Tate Fincher is a Texas-based composer and music educator whose work is rooted in creating meaningful musical experiences for performers and audiences alike. His music is shaped by vivid character, strong melodic ideas, and practical, performer-centered scoring, with a focus on works that are engaging, accessible, and musically rewarding for student ensembles.
Fincher serves as Director of Bands at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas, where he also serves as Visual and Performing Arts Department Head. Under his leadership, the Clear Creek Band program has continued to grow in student participation, musical achievement, and opportunities across the full vertical cluster. He previously taught in Austin, Texas, where his programs earned consistent UIL success while expanding student participation, region band placement, solo and ensemble achievement, and competitive winter guard opportunities.
In addition to his work as an educator and composer, Fincher is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. His music reflects his belief that young musicians deserve repertoire that challenges and excites them, offering a compelling story to tell.
