Tate’s work is shaped by the belief that memorable music and practical scoring should always serve the performers bringing it to life.
Tate Fincher is a Texas-based composer and music educator whose work is rooted in creating meaningful musical experiences for performers and audiences alike. His music combines vivid character, strong melodic ideas, and practical, performer-centered scoring for student ensembles.
Tate serves as Director of Bands at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas, where he also serves as Visual and Performing Arts Department Head. Under his leadership, the Clear Creek Band program has continued to grow in student participation, musical achievement, and opportunities across the full vertical cluster.
Before joining Clear Creek, Tate taught in Austin, Texas, where his programs earned consistent UIL success while expanding participation, region-band placement, solo and ensemble achievement, and competitive winter guard opportunities.
In addition to his work as an educator and composer, Tate is active as an adjudicator throughout the United States. His music reflects his belief that young musicians deserve repertoire that challenges and excites them while offering a compelling story to tell.
